Shortly after DC Comics reintroduced Alan Scott-the first superhero to assume the Green Lantern persona-as an openly gay man, its comic competitor, Marvel, upped the open-mindedness ante by planning the medium’s first same-sex, interracial wedding in a major comic series.
In an attempt to promote equality and tolerance, Marvel and DC Comics recently made dueling announcements about gay superheroes.
